A rabid dog, which had bitten more than 112 people within five hours from 6.30 pm on Wednesday evening at Bhejpur district headquarters, was surrounded and beaten to death by people in the same midnight. This happened for the first time in Bihar, when a single dog created terror in the entire city. A record 112 people were bitten within five hours in one day. The result of terror was visible in another way on Thursday, when a record 86 people were given a dose of anti-rabies vaccine in a single day.
DM ordered the corporation, people killed in the milk bowl locality
The terror of the dog began on Wednesday evening. Within three hours ‘Amar Ujala’ reported the news and its continuous follow up did. People were also warned through the news that this mad dog has roamed around and bitten people and where it can go now. After this, the Municipal Corporation was immediately sent on behalf of the District Magistrate Rajkumar to catch him, but in the meantime, at around 12 o’clock in the milk bowl locality, this dog was surrounded by people. People dared not only surround him with sticks, but also beat the dog to death. Before death, the mad dog had bitten and injured more than 112 children, old men and women in Shaheed Bhawan Chowk, Mahavir Tola, Hospital Road, Shivganj etc. localities of Arrah city. Many were seriously injured by the dog. So many patients started arriving at the Sadar Hospital at the same time that there was panic in the Sadar Hospital. Many people also got treated in private hospitals, so that they don’t have to go out and come face to face with the dog.

Out of the people injured by dog bite, 86 people were given a dose of rabies vaccine at Ara Sadar Hospital on Thursday amid the Republic Day holiday. Manager of Sadar Hospital, Kaushal Dubey said that despite the Republic Day holiday, a dose of vaccine was given by setting up a camp on the orders of the DM. The camp will run on Thursday also, survivors can come and take injections. People whose primary treatment was done in private hospitals can also take the vaccine dose in Sadar Hospital.
